If there is such a thing as day v. night in a hospital . . .
Ellis has done very well so far. Her "perky" new heart is working wonderfully. Her lips are beautifully pink, her external pulses are awesome and her organs are all getting lots of blood (something new for them).
She was extubated at 7:00 and is breathing without assistance. She has the dreaded nasal cannula with a little nitric oxide to help decrease her pulmonary pressures.
Mom and dad are by her side and again the nursing staff at Children's is amazing. Kim was with Ellis again last night and Shannon will be with her today. They are saints.
We were teasing poor Ellis about capturing some video of her on narcotics, but are not that cruel. It was cute as she tried to put a water filled sponge in her mouth and completely missed her HEAD!
Looking forward to hearing her jokes again. She's a funny little girl.
Keep praying that her body learns to accept her new heart and this positive trend continues. The family gratefully appreciates all the energy people have sent us. It's buoyed all.
Hooray! Hope all continues to go very well! We are thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteGreat hearing about your progress, Ellis!! Emma loves to tell everyone the news, which she calls, "The Best News Ever!" We tried sending a little something to "lift" your spirits, but they say not till you're out of the ICU. Something to look forward to...!
