December 17

Are you kidding me? Dad got a call last night as he was writing some notes for his dads Celebration of Life. Dr. Kemna called to say Ellis most recent echo showed some excessive fluid build up around her new heart. Ordered Ellis NPO again and decided we needed to drain that fluid as soon as possible.
Immediately drained 300+cc of gunk! She was really uncomfortable last night from the insertion site and tube, but Amy, another great nurse had the magic touch and magic cocktail. She's comfortable and eating like a horse. Had some yummy cafe fried rice, and a a couple of large potstickers before meds kicked in and fork missed mouth.
She was chatty and feeling good this afternoon. The drainage should only last for a days. Not an abnormal reaction. And her kidneys weren't fully working to rid the body of the gunk.
Again, the miracle that is Ellis!
She was able to see a bit of Grandpas service via livestream. Cool deal. Nice turnout and wonderful thoughts for her heavenly savior! Looking for a less painful night and continue on the trend to recovery. Heart is working GREAT still.

  1. Wow - every day's a new loop on the rollercoaster, isn't it? Ellis, you are a fighter-extraordinaire! Ian & Shea, what troopers you are! Wish I wasn't so far away, but you are close in our hearts.
